Community

A key component of wellbeing in any area is the sense of community. We work on a variety of projects which aim to engender a sense of connectedness between all groups in society. Community food-growing projects connect urban dwellers to where their food comes from as well as making links between people from disparate social, ethnic and economic backgrounds.

Growing food opens minds to new and diverse foodstuffs from around the world and helps to improves diet. The harvested food has a minimal carbon footprint and contributes to a closed circuit economy.

The psychological and physiological benefits of gardening are well documented. Fresh air, exercise, decreasing isolation, the joy of tending plants and improved diet all improve both physical and mental health.

Artwork

Our artistic practice is based in the public realm and we aim to connect people with their local environment and the wider world around them. Subject matter ranges from deep prehistoric starting points to closer historic events, and are often influenced by our interest in science.

We aim to utilise art interventions in all of our gardens, no matter how fleeting. The flower beds are our dynamic canvas which changes with the seasons.

Placemaking

Linking in with community, our aim in placemaking is to bring people together and bring a sense of belonging. Artistic and green interventions help to generate a sense of place and an appreciation of the uniqueness of where we live.

We look to history and the local economy to reinforce the sense of place, but always with an eye to the future and how to bring the best to everyone in the locality.
